Tooth decay

Tooth decay is harm to your tooth caused by dental plaque turning sugars into acid.
If plaque is allowed to build up, it may cause problems, such as holes in the teeth (dental caries) and gum disease.
Dental abscesses that are sets of pus at the end of their teeth or the teeth, may grow.

Symptoms of tooth decay
Tooth decay may not result in any pain.
But if you have dental caries, you might have:
Toothache - either continuous pain keeping you alert or intermittent sharp pain without an obvious cause; it can sometimes be painless
Tooth sensitivity - you may feel tenderness or pain after eating or drinking something hot, cold or sweet
Grey, brown or black spots appearing on your teeth
Bad breath
An unpleasant taste in your mouth
Viewing a dentist
See your dentist regularly so premature tooth decay may be treated whenever possible and also the avoidance of further corrosion can start.
Tooth decay is significantly simpler and cheaper to deal with in its early phases.
Dentists can usually identify tooth decay and further issues with a simple examination or X-ray.

Find your nearest dentist
Additionally, it is important to have routine dental check-ups.
Mothers should have a checkup at least one time every 2 decades, and kids under the age of 18 need to have a checkup at a minimum one time each year.

Treatments for tooth decay

Early-stage tooth decay
Early-stage tooth decay, which can be before a pit (or cavity) has formed in the tooth, could be reversed by:

Reducing how much and how frequently you have sugary foods and beverages brushing your teeth at least twice each day with fluoride toothpaste
Your dentist may apply a fluoride gel or fluoride glue to the affected tooth.
Fluoride helps to protect teeth from strengthening the tooth, making teeth more resistant to the toxins from plaque that can lead to tooth decay
Remedies for holes in teeth

When there's a gap in the tooth, therapy may include:
A crown or filling this involves removing the dental decay and filling out the hole or covering the tooth (read about that which  fillings and crowns are made from )
Root canal treatment - this could be needed to eliminate tooth decay that's spread to the center of the tooth where the nerves and blood are (the pulp)
Eliminating all or portion of the tooth - this is often advised when the tooth is badly damaged and Can't Be restored; your dentist may Have the Ability to replace the tooth with a partial denture, bridge or augmentation
Preventing tooth decay in adults
Although tooth decay is still a common problem, it is often entirely preventable.
The best way to avoid tooth decay and maintain your gums as healthy as possible is to:
Visit your dentist often - your physician will determine how frequently they want to find out you based on the Status of your mouth, teeth, and gums
Cut down on sugary and starchy meals and drinks, particularly between meals or within one hour of going to bed -- a few medicines can also contain sugar, so it is Ideal to Search for sugar-free alternatives where possible
Look after your teeth and gums brush your teeth properly with fluoride toothpaste twice a day, and use floss and an interdental brush at least once a day
See your dentist or some other GP if you have a dry mouth this may be caused by certain medicines, treatments or Health Conditions

Guarding Your child's teeth
Establishing good eating habits by limiting sugary snacks and drinks can help your child avoid tooth decay.
Routine visits to the dentist in early age also needs to be supported.
It is very important to teach your kids how to clean their teeth properly and regularly.  Your dentist can show you how to do this.
Younger children should use a children's toothpaste, but make sure you read the label about the way to utilize it.
Kids should still brush their teeth twice per day, especially before bedtime.

What causes tooth decay?
Your mouth is full of bacteria that form a picture over the teeth called dental plaque.
When you consume food and drink high in carbohydrates, particularly fatty foods, and drinks, the bacteria in plaque turn the carbs into energy they need, making acid at the same time.

The acid may divide the surface of your teeth, inducing holes known as cavities.
Once cavities have formed in the tooth, the plaque and bacteria can reach the dentine, the softer bone-like material beneath the enamel.

Since the dentine is thicker compared to the enamel, the procedure for tooth decay speeds up.
Without treatment, bacteria will go into the pulp, the soft middle of the tooth which contains nerves and blood vessels.
At this phase, your nerves will be exposed to bacteria, usually making your tooth pain.
The germs can result in a dental abscess from the pulp and the infection could spread into the bone, inducing a different kind of abscess.
